Where’s the Recession?

The media and Democrats keep telling us we’re in a recession.  But if the “staycation”–AKA vactioning within your means–is the worst economic hardship we endure, using the “R” word is a bit over the top.

Media misdirection

Palin’s hubby and son not Republicans

Democrats may be blasting Sarah Palin as a doctrinaire conservative, and Republicans may be embracing her for the same reason, but her husband and oldest son are independents.

Or more precisely, their party affiliation is listed as ”undeclared” on voter registration records reteieved from the Alaska Division of Elections. [snip]

Leave it to the media to ask the wrong question, probably on purpose. Donk or GOP really have no meaning anymore. The question is, “Are they Conservatives or Liberals?” “Guess!”
Registering undeclared means you don’t get batches of garbage mail and solicitations for funds.

Here’s a photo of Palin welcoming PETA to Alaska.

Gotta love it!

Obama Flips On Oil Drilling; Media Says Amen!

If Obama is a new kind of politician, you could have fooled me. With the polls tightening, he’s decided that a little bit of oil drilling might not be such a bad thing after all:

“If, in order to get that passed, we have to compromise in terms of a careful, well thought-out drilling strategy that was carefully circumscribed to avoid significant environmental damage - I don’t want to be so rigid that we can’t get something done.”

That, ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what Congressional Republicans have been arguing for, but when The One says it, the media treats it like it’s manna from heaven. Of course, the Times carefully avoids mentioning that Barack’s Party is stonewalling any compromise on drilling in Congress–including turning off the lights and cameras. Must have slipped their minds.

Plus, the Times says Obama’s “shift” is a sign of “political pragmatism” and not a flip-flop. Wonder how they’d call it were McCain on the other end of the issue?

Press Laudes Obama’s Lack of Economic Plan

The press’ Obama man crush is reaching embarrassing new heights.  Even when Obama has nothing to say the press can’t wait to praise him for it.  For example, Obama has no concrete plans for the economy, but it still generated 335 articles and counting on Google News.  With the election just a little over 3 months away, shouldn’t he have something to say about the economy besides he’s going to tax the bejesus out of us?  So much for the press being an important part of a functioning Democracy.

McCain’s Chickens Come Home to Roost

John McCain spent most of his career bashing conservatives, cultivating media “friendships”, and celebrating his maverick image.  Therefore, the NY Times rejection of his Op Ed because it’s not “Obamaish” is just laced with bitter irony.  However, I’d be curious to know how many rewrites Obama did on his piece before it was accepted.  Truth be told, and as clearly implied by the Times response that Obama’s piece just “worked” for them, they treat every utterance by Obama like he’s giving the Sermon on the Mount.

When it’s all said and done, I wonder if the wedge McCain drove between himself and the base for media approbation will pay off?  I’m skeptical that he’ll get more independents and liberals than the conservatives he turned off with his “maverick” ways.

A packaged politician

Campaigns wish to avoid the truth in advertising laws, so it is up to the packagers to assiduously follow the law. Here we box them up, slap on the labels and make sure that the truth in advertising laws are followed.

Depends on the point of view

The Great Media Depression

The Great Depression was the darkest economic period in American history – yet it was consistently cited by the mainstream media as a point of comparison in 2008. Network news shows referred to the Great Depression 42 times just in the first four months of the year, nearly three times per week. [snip]

Given this news, perhaps the depression is relegated to just one sector: the media

[snip]
Half a dozen newspapers said they would slash payrolls, one said it would outsource all its printing, and Tribune Co., one of the biggest publishers in the country, said it might sell its iconic headquarters tower in Chicago and the building that houses the Los Angeles Times. [snip]

Talk about bringing this on oneself. It just took time.

Barack Lies About Campaign Financing

Barack Obama broke his promise to accept public financing, but don’t worry, he’s not like the others:

The presumptive Democratic nominee says his 1.5 million donors represent a real grassroots campaign. “What we’ve built frees ourselves from special interests,” he said, unlike Republican John McCain’s operation, which Obama said is based on big donors and lobbyists.

Of course, when Obama lies, the NY Times is at the ready with a quick hallelujah!  However, a quick examination of the facts tells another story:

Obama’s team in Nevada, put together last summer to help him with the state’s January caucuses, included at least two Nevada lobbyists: one that represented Barrick Gold of North America, a mining company that also lobbies in Washington, and another whose clients included U.S. Airways, Corrections Corp. of America and consulting company Accenture, which lobby in Washington.

Barack thinks we’re as dumb as he looks standing behind his fake presidential seal.  Special interests are going to play a major role in politics no matter how many laws are passed.  Barack’s nose is a lot longer after telling these whoppers.

A good reason to crater official DC

In the twisty world of home buying, especially at a time like this, one needs a guiding hand past the pitfalls of high points and rates.
Congress, in its usual tizzy, leapt into the breach headfirst, only to find some of it’s members actually have experience in such matters.

Believe me it is highly unusual for congress to know what it is doing.

For starters, I thought the Democrats stole a march on the GOP in gathering vital information. Not so, a GOP minion sneaked in to make this bipartisan.
Risking everything, these stalwarts surreptitiously secured subprime loans through Countrywide Financial to help the American public see the dangers of such actions.

This is why I’m convinced Congress will clamor for the following to step forward and share the details:

  1. James Johnson (D)-Obama Veep Selection
  2. Senator Kent Conrad (D)-N.D.
  3. Donna Shalala-(D)-HHS Secretary- scheduled to receive a Presidential Medal of Freedom on June 19
  4. Senator Chris Dodd-(D)-CT.
  5. Richard Holbrooke (D)-Asst Secretary of State-Adviser to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign
  6. Alphonso Jackson (R)-HUD Secretary

With great stealth and fortitude these individuals baffled Angelo Mozilo, conning him into adding their names to his “Friends of Angelo” list.

Let the press herald their struggle, disseminate their names far and wide.

Well Jackson is a Republican, they are free to report his work.

Note:
Federal employees are prohibited from receiving gifts offered because of their official position, including loans on terms not generally available to the public. Senate rules prohibit members from knowingly receiving gifts worth $100 or more in a calendar year from private entities that, like Countrywide, employ a registered lobbyist.

Media No Longer Loves McCain

It’s hard to feel sorry for John McCain when he’s the victim of media bias. There’s no small amount of poetic justice in seeing him raked across the coals now after having been lauded by the same biased media when he was advancing liberal causes as a “maverick” Republican.

Here’s an example of his former NY Times “friends” blasting him for getting John Hagee’s endorsement. Now John McCain was never a member of Hagee’s church. His children weren’t baptized by Hagee. Hagee was not McCain’s mentor, friend, or spiritual adviser. Yet the Times blasts McCain while providing all the top cover it can for Barack Obama’s 20 year relationship with Jeremiah Wright.

This is only the start too. The media has the long knives out for McCain while doing everything they can to get Barack Obama elected.
