Obama’s America

Change you’re going to get

From a Michelle Malkin post today:

Obama’s illegal alien aunt (and campaign donor!) is a deportation fugitive; Bush administration moves to protect her

[snip]
Turns out Aunti Zeituni Onyango, one of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama’s many relatives made famous in his memoir, is an illegal alien. And not just a run-of-the-mill illegal alien on welfare. [snip]

Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in Obama’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

[snip]
Via cjburch, this Ace of Spades commenter sums it all up: “Obama’s aunt is here ILLEGALLY living in poverty, and is a deportation FUGITIVE. She’s collecting WELFARE and has DONATED to Obama’s campaign, ILLEGALLY! Obama. Family in poverty as he makes millions. Complete lawlessness. Giveaway your hard earned tax payer money to illegal fugitives. CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.”

Of course, Bush is slowing down proceedings against her.

As our politicians like to remind us, We are a Nation of Laws!

Enforcement Works!

As often touted by yours truly, enforcement works when it comes to illegal immigration:

The illegal migrant population has dropped an estimated 11 percent through May after hitting a peak last August, based on census data used in a report by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS). Much of that decline is due to people who self-deported by slipping back across the border.

The drop began well before unemployment went up, which points to the real success story: Washington’s wake-up call last summer to beef up enforcement, from plugging leaks in the border to cracking down on employers who hire illegal workers.

And further proof:

Immigrant remittances to the Bank of Mexico are down after years of rising.

So much for the left-wing scare tactics that claimed we’d have illegal immigrant concentration camps.   It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you actually enforce the law.

Obama Sounds More Like Jimmy Carter Each Day

The more Barack Obama speaks the clearer it becomes that he’s running for Jimmy Carter’s 2nd term.  Obama’s latest jab at the American people is something that would sound right at home in almost any Carter speech:

“You know, it’s embarrassing when Europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French, they speak German. And then we go over to Europe, and all we can say (is), ‘Merci beaucoup.’ “

He and Michele are certainly establishing a pattern here.  They’re not proud of Americans.  He can surround himself with as many flags and pins as he wants, but the words coming out of his mouth tell the real story.

And then there’s this little tidbit from the same talk:

“But understand this: Instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn English — they’ll learn English — you need to make sure your child can speak Spanish.

Our schools are doing such a wonderful job teaching basic English that I’m sure Spanish won’t be a problem.  So now our children can barely speak 2 languages instead of just 1.  That certainly sounds like a “progressive” agenda.

And instead of a melting pot, we can divide the country into the Spanish speaking areas, the English speaking areas, the Arabic speaking areas, the Mandarin speaking areas, etc.  After all, why worry about 100s of years of success with the melting pot concept when elitist liberals like Obama want everyone speaking a different language.  I’m sure that’ll work out wonderfully.

Mexico keeps the good stuff

We can keep out the tomatoes, why not the illegals

Salmonella fear traps tomatoes in Mexico

MEXICO CITY - Export-quality tomatoes labeled “Ready to Eat” in English flooded Mexico City markets on Thursday after a salmonella scare in the U.S. trapped them south of the border.
[snip]
Instead, he now sends his top quality tomatoes to markets around Mexico where they sell for a third the U.S. price. He leaves lesser-quality produce, normally sold in Mexico, to rot.

At the capital’s bustling central food market, truckloads of tomatoes are now arriving in boxes originally meant for the U.S. “Sweet treat. Premium quality,” says lettering in English _ wording lost on most Mexican Spanish speakers.

The top quality tomatoes now sell for 35 cents a pound (8 pesos per kilogram) in the capital _ a third below normal prices.

Most customers don’t know about the U.S. salmonella scare, and those who do, don’t seem alarmed. Some shoppers said they’ve always been more careful than Americans in preparing produce _ they have to be, because vegetables sold in Mexico are not held to the same standards as those certified for export.

“What ends up here is second-rate,” said Sergio Martinez, a 40-year-old bricklayer who bought 4 1/2 pounds of tomatoes at the central market Thursday.

“Almost all vegetables are contaminated with something because they water them with sewer water and put on a lot of chemicals,” he said, noting that he washes all his produce with bleach and water.

About 120,000 people were sickened by salmonella in Mexico last year, according to Mexican health authorities _ three times the average 40,000 cases reported in the U.S., according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. [snip]

We let the salmonella laden illegals come up here to pick our food, circumventing the prophylactic measures the FDA and USDA has in place.
Hey McCain, let as many illegals in as we currently let in tomatoes. Spray them with bleach and water too!

Democcrats certainly changed the country

The election of 2006, how the Democrats changed the country. The links will take you to the data for verification.

Part 1

A little over one year ago:

  1. Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high
  2. Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
  3. The unemployment rate was 4.5%

Since voting in a Democratically controlled Congress in 2006 we haveseen:

  1. Consumer confidence plummet
  2. The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon
  3. Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase)
  4. American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses)
  5. Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars
  6. 1% of American homes are in foreclosure

America voted for “change” in 2006, and we got it!
Remember, it’s Congress that makes the law…not the President. He has to work with what’s handed him. Of course sometimes they are hand in glove with Congress.

Quote of the Day: “My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.” - Barrack Obama

Part 2

Taxes.

Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K-tax $8,400 Single making 30K-tax $4,500
Single making 50K-tax $14,000 Single making 50K-tax $12,500
Single making 75K-tax $23,250 Single making 75K-tax $18,750
Married making 60K-tax $16,800 Married making 60K-tax $9,000
Married making 75K-tax $21,000 Married making 75K-tax $18,750
Married making 125K-tax $38,750 Married making 125K-tax $31,250

Both democrat candidates will return to the higher tax rates. It is amazing how many people who fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.
If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people who fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen.

Part 3

You think the war in Iraq is costing us too much?

I have been hammered with propaganda that it’s the “Iraq War” and the “War on Terror” that is bankrupting us. RIDICULOUS!

$11 billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
$2.2 billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.
$2.5 billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.
$12 billion dollars a year spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!
$17 billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.
$3 Million dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens. 30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
$90 billion dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.
$200 billion dollars a year in suppressed American wages caused by illegal aliens.
Illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that’s two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.
During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana, crossed into the U. S from the Southern border.
In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin.
“The Dark Side of Illegal Immigration: Nearly One Million Sex Crimes is Committed By Illegal Immigrants In The United States”

The total cost is a whopping $338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!
The total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.”

Are we voters that stupid? I guess so.

Where’s McCain on illegals

Has it occurred to you that any American citizen wishing employment needs to produce more paper than can be culled from a hectare of Canadian woods. That’s for cleaning toilets to working in a bank. Speaking of banks, try opening an account with just your Social Security card, not going to happen. You need to prove beyond unreasonable doubt of your bona fides.

If arrested for a criminal act or even a DUI, you’ll be questioned and charged with no delay. Bring money, you’ll need an armored car full.

However, to avoid these roadblocks, merely claim you are an illegal.

Do you have a criminal background? Not a problem, since the Liberals won’t ask and forbid local powers from inquiring. Consider driver’s licenses an inconvenience, since purchasing insurance isn’t on the vehicle operating agenda. Taxes are impedimenta to our appreciating our beer. Illegals treasure their Corona with abandon then motor off to relish a night on the town. Don’t worry about that DUI, CA wants to make it illegal to notify ICE if they believe deportation would occur.

Some of the more adventurous may even engage in a spot of rape. Oh to live la dolce vita with such lack of inhibition.

We know where Clinton and Obama stand on this problem, offer amnesty. McCain has been quiet, he does have an ardent open border believer running his candidacy, Juan Hernandez. Where does this bring us to in November?

Navarette Jr.: Illegal Immigration Opponents Racists

Every Ruben Navarrette Jr. article on illegal immigration strikes the same chords. The illegal immigration debate is “ugly” and opponents are racists. He makes that sweeping generalization based upon the sample size of his own inbox.

The truth is the vast majority of Americans welcome LEGAL immigration. However, they recognize the issues that unfettered, illegal immigration cause. If Mr. Navarrette thinks the race card will intimidate us, he’s wrong. Furthermore, if as claimed in his article, he wants progress, dropping the race baiting and addressing the issues would be a good place to start.

The border fence

Sometimes it helps to use visuals when defining a topic. Since we are building the Mexican border fence and there is a danger of Illexicans being trapped on the wrong side, I offer this to help the lost and confused.

There! Rather concise, is it not?

Fix Illegal Immigration by Enforcing the Law

Enforcement has always been the real answer in the illegal immigration debate.  The laws are on the books.  People like George Bush, John McCain, and Ted Kennedy just never wanted to enforce them.  And although Oklahoma and Arizona passed new laws, it’s the enforcement aspect that’s driving their illegal immigrants to Texas.

Hysterical open borders proponents like to conjure up images of deportation camps, but enforcement has always been the way to convince our undocumented “guests” to leave.

Bush style border security

Finally, we have a 1.4 billion Mexican border security package to stem the flow of illegals. Oops, wrong border! This is for the southern border of Mexico, to help them control illegals. What controls do they need? I thought they machine gunned transients down there.

Give the money to the “political” thugs running the governments down there; I think we’d get a better return investing with mob.
Where is the GOP on this? Why are they not screaming? AND where is McCain? Is he letting his good buddy Juan Hernandez cover for the U.S. in this matter?
Our border is a sieve, spend that money building the fence up here!

The White House wants a $1.4 billion stimulus/national security package…for Mexico

[snip]
The plan is called “The Merida Initiative.” Seems that the White House has had this plan in the works for nearly a year with little congressional input on either side of the border.

We can’t finish our own border fence, properly supply our immigration agents and border patrol with all the equipment and resources they need, or get our house in order. Yet, the Bush administration wants to fork over $1.4 billion to Mexico and Central America–with much of it going into the hands of corrupt law enforcement officials and government bureaucrats who have worked tirelessly to undermine our immigration laws. The funding is tucked into the 2008 supplemental budget. (emphasis added)

Naturally, the State Department has taken a lead role. They’ve held meetings in secret and cut out members of Congress from discussion. You’ll love the explanation for the secrecy: Mexico is “sensitive,” you see. Also, according to one expert, “Mexico is very protective of its sovereignty and very worried about any incursion of U.S. security forces or private contractors—like Blackwater—coming in to train Mexicans.” Yeah, they’re worried about incursions and sovereignty.

[snip]
Meantime, Mexico refuses to extradite criminal suspects who’ve fled from the U.S. down to Mexico unless our prosecutors drop death penalty charges against them.

Oh, and just in time to mobilize pro-illegal immigration activists during this heated campaign season, Calderon landed in the U.S. yesterday for a five-day visit…[snip]

The usual gang of suspects will be meeting with him.

Some things never go away

From a Michelle Malkin repost:

I have had the pleasure of speaking and debating alongside former Colorado Gov. Dick Lamm. In Colorado five years ago, we took on an open-borders contingent that was pushing for the illegal alien ID card known as the matricula consular (which I’ve blogged about extensively here.) He’s a true maverick–a Democrat who has long presaged the self-destructive impact of open borders. In 2004, Dick Lamm gave a now-famous speech at one of the Federation for American Immigration Reform’s conferences. The incisive speech, “I have a plan to destroy America,” went viral. I still have at least one or two readers e-mailing it to me every week. I’m reprinting it today. [snip]

I have a plan to destroy America by Richard D. Lamm

I have a secret plan to destroy America. If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug, too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, let’s destroy America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and they all fall, and that “an autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.” Here is my plan: [snip]

Go here to read this speech

And from this turkey:

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum.” –Noam Chomsky, American linguist and U.S. media and foreign policy critic.

May I add, no friend of America.

Mexican President Criticizes and Visits US

So, Mexican President Felipe Calderon is coming to the US to criticize us for our immigration policies.  Yawn.  But I do have a little advice for el presidente—stay home and clean up your own mess.  11 million of your citizens wouldn’t be here illegally if you’d turn your own country around.  And when you leave, take some of your law breakers with you.

Time for Conservatives to Examine Their Relationship With the Republican Party

So John McCain is the new face of the Republican Party. If true, count me out. I just spent 8 years watching President Bush sabotage the conservative movement on almost every major domestic policy issue. I’m not going to shot myself in the foot over and over again just to get a Republican elected.

It’s time for conservatives to reexamine their relationship with the Republican Party. The old platitudes about any Republican being better than a Democrat just aren’t true. I didn’t derive much consolation from the fact that George Bush was a Republican when he was partnering with Teddy Kennedy on illegal immigration and education.

It’s also well past time to look at the bigger picture and not blindly accept the notion that nothing matters besides the War on Terrorism. Conservatives need to resist the temptation to become single issue voters. That’s not to say that you’ll agree with everything a particular candidate does, but you do have to look at a much broader canvas.

And that’s why the Republican Party and John McCain have lost me. When you look at the broader core of what John McCain and the Party under a McCain presidency would represent (global warming, illegal immigration, socialized medicine, higher taxes, expansion of government scope and size, etc.), there’s very little reason to support it or him. The ever so prized independents and liberals are welcome to it.
