Keeping kids safe–GIS

GIS: the new State way!

You can see why the need for Guns In School (GIS) is a coming thing.

14″ barrels, hmmm, not available to the public, must be for the math class ‘tards.
Teaching school in Obama’s ‘hood is getting harder and more dangerous.
TEST: #00 has 6 balls in each shell. I shoot Homey and hit him with 2, how many were left to hit Ratface?
No bodies left behind.

Extremists with GUNS

The Left said this would happen if we voted for McCain …

‘Oddball’ portrait of Amy Bishop emerges

Suspect’s family, pals offer clues

 [snip]
A family source said Bishop, a mother of four children - the youngest a third-grade boy - was a far-left political extremist who was “obsessed” with President Obama to the point of being off-putting. [snip]

The left is correct! We need gun control–we need to keep them out of the Radical Left’s hands!

Bishop violated the UAH campus regs and every wacko left belief that ‘No guns on Campus’ will make you safe.

With this one, there is much more; at least she’s in the proper camp!

When 911 just won’t do

33 minutes that will rivet you to your monitor!
Hollywood can’t write this!

This is why Sarah Brady, Josh Sugarman and the rest of the gun control idiots lie to you. They don’t believe in the death penalty either, EXCEPT as applied victims of criminal attacks who would choose to fight back.

The link is the full 33 minutes of the 911 tape.

Liberals live in enclaves where police/fire/EMT response is measured in minutes. They believe protecting themselves is another’s job; a hired gun-mercenary-paladin so they don’t have to think about the consequence.

Why Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate In The World

That each home has an full auto weapon on premise might prove to discourage intruders.
Plus handguns and other assorted pieces makes for home invasions, B&E and the odd residential criminal activity an unhealthy vocation.

Definition of tags:

  • Gun control–Hitting center of mass or the eye box each time the trigger is squeezed by the shootist. Usual meaning is confiscation of weapons.
  • Gun free zones– Where defenseless people go to die in large numbers. Usual meaning is a place of safety.
  • Assault Weapons–A generic term which includes full auto hand held modern rifles, Revolutionary War muskets, sidearms (revolvers and pistols) and the worst one of all, the airplane. Usual meaning is anything that scares idiots.
  • Guns–Proper term is weapon, piece, rifle, arm or sidearm. Usual meaning is a Limp Willy applied word denoting fear.

 Remember this military memory jogger:

This is my rifle, (hold up your weapon)
This is my gun, (grab your crotch)
This is for shooting, (wave your rifle)
This is for fun.

Gun Gontrol in the Heartland

There is a modicum of success on the gun control front. News from Chicago tells us:

4 Killed, At Least 8 Wounded In 6-Hour Bloodbath

Three men were fatally shot. One man was fatally stabbed. Police shot one man and at least seven other people were wounded by gunfire — including an 8-year-old boy sitting in his bedroom — during an especially violent six hours late Wednesday and early Thursday mainly on the South and West Sides. [snip]

The good news from this is one of the attackers used a knife, not a gun. Proof positive GUN CONTROL IS STARTING TO WORK!
The downside, the blade used was a semi-auto assault knife WITH a guard and the all too familiar drop point tip. Insult to injury, the blade was parkerized and the hilt was CAMO; the whole device was 4½” long, how horribly  fiendish.

Mayor Daley must be pleased with his success rate in controlling gun violence.
Seems the states with the strictest laws have the least success.

Gun Control in Chicagoland

The stringent laws on guns in Chicago, actually Illinois, should make you feel safer.

MA has laws (read Boston) quite similar.

So go about your business without a worry!

Bloody Weekend: 8 Dead, Dozens Wounded

4 Killed, 2 Dozen Or More Wounded In Just 6 Hours

At least eight people were killed and some two dozen others were wounded over the weekend. Four of the victims lost their lives during a bloody six hours late Saturday and early Sunday.

Four of the victims lost their lives and at least 22 were wounded during a bloody six hours late Saturday and early Sunday, including an 8-year-old boy.

Violence was reported in every part of the city – with shootings and stabbings on the North, South and West sides.

The violence began with a stabbing at 9:55 p.m. Saturday, when a 26-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the armpit near 71st Street and Vernon Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood. He was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in critical condition. A suspect is in custody, police said. [snip]

I know:
They smuggled them in from Mexico into Chicago to make Daley look bad.
It’s Bush’s fault.
It’s because they passed the law letting people carry in National Parks.
Mayor Daley should have banned semi-auto assault knives!

Get over it!
Gun Control doesn’t work.

Shooting the criminals does!

For the perpetual hand wringers

Go ahead, stick a sign on YOUR front door: “Gun Free Zone!”

Let’s All Surrender Our Weapons — You First!
by Ann Coulter

The rash of recent shooting incidents has led people who wouldn’t know an AK-47 from a paintball gun to issue demands for more restrictions on guns. To be sure, it’s hard to find any factor in these shootings that could be responsible — other than the gun.

So far, this year’s public multiple shootings were committed by:

– Richard Poplawski, 23, product of a broken family, expelled from high school and dishonorably discharged from the Marines, who killed three policemen in Pittsburgh.

– Former crack addict Jiverly Wong, 41, who told co-workers “America sucks” yet somehow was not offered a job as a speechwriter for Barack Obama, who blockaded his victims in a civic center in Binghamton, N.Y., and shot as many people as he could, before killing himself.

– Robert Stewart, 45, a three-time divorcee and high school dropout with “violent tendencies” — according to one of his ex-wives — who shot up the nursing home in Carthage, N.C., where his newly estranged wife worked.

– Lovelle Mixon, 26, a paroled felon, struggling to get his life back on track by pimping, who shot four cops in Oakland, Calif. — before eventually being shot himself.

– Twenty-eight-year-old Michael McLendon, child of divorce, living with his mother and boycotting family funerals because he hated his relatives, who killed 10 of those relatives and their neighbors in Samson, Ala.

It might make more sense to outlaw men than guns. Or divorce. Or crack. Or to prohibit felons from having guns. Except we already outlaw crack and felons owning guns and yet still, somehow, Wong got crack and Mixon got a gun.

After being pulled over for a routine traffic violation, Lovelle Mixon did exactly what they teach in driver’s ed by immediately shooting four cops. Mixon’s supporters held a posthumous rally in his honor, claiming he shot the cops only in “self-defense,” which I take it includes the cop Mixon shot while the officer was lying on the ground.

I guess Mixon also raped that 12-year-old girl in “self-defense.” Clearly, the pimping industry has lost a good man. I wish I’d known him. I tip my green velvet fedora with the dollar signs all over it to him. Why do the good ones always die young? Pimps, I mean.

Liberals tolerate rallies on behalf of cop-killers, but they prohibit law-abiding citizens working at community centers in Binghamton, N.Y., from being armed to defend themselves from disturbed, crack-addicted America-haters like Jiverly Wong.

It’s something in liberals’ DNA: They think they can pass a law eliminating guns and nuclear weapons, but teenagers having sex is completely beyond our control.

The demand for more gun control in response to any crime involving a gun is exactly like Obama’s response to North Korea’s openly belligerent act of launching a long-range missile this week: Obama leapt to action by calling for worldwide nuclear disarmament.

If the SAT test were used to determine how stupid a liberal is, one question would be: “The best defense against lawless rogues who possess _______ is for law-abiding individuals to surrender their own _______________.”
Correct answer: Guns. We would also have accepted nuclear weapons.

Obama explained that “the United States has a moral responsibility” to lead disarmament efforts because America is “the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon.”

So don’t go feeling all morally superior to a country whose business model consists of exporting heroin, nuclear bombs and counterfeit U.S. dollars, and of importing Swedish prostitutes, you yahoo Americans with your little flag lapel pins.

On the other hand, the Japanese haven’t acted up much in the last, say, 64 years …

Fortunately, our sailors didn’t wait around for Obama to save them when Somali pirates boarded their ship this week. Stop right now or I’ll ask the U.N. to remind the “international community” that “the U.S. is not at war with Somali pirates.”

Gun-toting Americans are clearly more self-sufficient than the sissy Europeans. This is great news for everyone except Barney Frank, who’s always secretly wondered what it would be like to be taken by a Somali pirate.

Police — whom I gather liberals intend to continue having guns — and intrepid U.N. resolution drafters can’t be everywhere, all the time.

If a single civilian in that Binghamton community center had been armed, instead of 14 dead, there might have only been one or two — including the shooter. In the end, the cops didn’t stop Wong. His killing spree ended only when he decided to stop, and he killed himself.

“The shooter will eventually run out of ammo” strategy may not be the best one for stopping deranged multiple murderers.

But it’s highly unlikely that any community center in the entire state would be safe from a disturbed former crack-addict like Wong because New York’s restrictive gun laws require a citizen to prove he has a need for a gun to obtain a concealed carry permit.

Instead of having Planned Parenthood distribute condoms in schools, they ought get the NRA to pass out revolvers. It would save more lives.

Want fries with this

Sarah Brady warned that concealed carry would lead to a “”Wild West” scene in the streets. Liberals wailed about the potential loss of life and danger of guns in the hands of armed citizens.
Liberals actually worry about the elimination of the wrong person, that would be the perp. You’ve heard all the weepy crap.

Here’s one happy result.

Robber fatally shot in Miami Burger King holdup

A robbery at a Burger King in Miami’s Upper East Side neighborhood left one person dead and another seriously injured.

An afternoon shootout at a busy Burger King restaurant in Miami left a potential robber dead and the customer who shot him seriously wounded.
The bloody event unfolded about 4 p.m. Tuesday at the restaurant at Northeast 54th Street and Biscayne Boulevard. It was a time, employees said, when it is usually crowded with schoolchildren and people getting out of work early.
The robber entered wearing a ski mask. He approached a clerk, showed his gun and demanded money, said Miami police spokesman Jeff Giordano.
A customer eyed him and the two started arguing. The customer had a concealed-weapons permit and his gun — and the two exchanged gunfire.
The robber crumpled to the floor and was pronounced dead at the scene. [snip]

The only bit of stupidity I can find is the citizen argued with the perp. Two rounds in the hat and the citizen wouldn’t have received return fire, hence been wounded. Furthermore, he wouldn’t have endangered others in the restaurant with the errant gunfire by the dirtbag.

The scorecard reads: Concealed Carry—1, Gun Grabbers–0.
A previous post to this subject here at NER.

Now the wounded citizen needs to file a huge civil suit against the perp’s family and estate. Whether they have anything or not is immaterial; one can hope threats of retribution might force families to shoot the bastards before they commit crimes again.
I doubt this was the first trip down this illicit road. No matter, it was his last!

New England at end of tether, Texas sane

North Texas school district will let teachers carry guns

HARROLD, Texas — A tiny Texas school district may be the first in the nation to allow teachers and staff to pack guns for protection when classes begin later this month, a newspaper reported.

Trustees at the Harrold Independent School District approved a district policy change last October so employees can carry concealed firearms to deter and protect against school shootings, provided the gun-toting teachers follow certain requirements.

In order for teachers and staff to carry a pistol, they must have a Texas license to carry a concealed handgun; must be authorized to carry by the district; must receive training in crisis management and hostile situations and have to use ammunition that is designed to minimize the risk of ricochet in school halls.

Superintendent David Thweatt said the small community is a 30-minute drive from the sheriff’s office, leaving students and teachers without protection. He said the district’s lone campus sits 500 feet from heavily trafficked U.S. 287, which could make it a target.

“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started. (emphasis added) [snip]

Harrold Independent School District, http://harroldisd.net/

Doesn’t this sound as if the district had a bowl of smarts for breakfast. This school now moves to the list of places that are very very low on the shoot-em-up list: gun stores, shooting ranges, police stations and my house.

…government started making schools gun-free zones… Yeah, sacrifice a few kids, then start screaming for gun control. More kids shot, start frothing at the mouth, the moonbat pols join in the fray. No means to an end is too extreme; ask Putin, Soros or Kos. Logic never rules an argument on that side.

First on Drudge on Aug 15th, let us see if the MSM reports this anywhere.

A PC produced death for society

What do Syria, Myanmar, Darfur, Hell, Afghanistan, Iran and Britain have in common? God-awful places to live is the answer.
However none except Britain are so uncivilized as to keep you from protecting life and property. The U.S. under the Donks and libs strive mightily to get us to that place particularly with the “progressive education” so enjoyed.

For more than two years, Sydney Davis’ house has been under siege from stone-throwing youths. And more than two hours into the latest attack on his family home, the police had yet to respond.

So after a particularly large missile landed in his kitchen, the 65-year-old grabbed a plank of wood and ran towards the gang to scare them away. But his desperate act came just as the police finally arrived on the scene - where they promptly arrested him for possession of an offensive weapon.

He now faces up to six months in prison. [snip]

In Britain, protecting oneself by means of a weapon, from assault with intent to maim or kill, is punishable with time in prison, not short either.

How did they get they get to this position. By the liberal method of constantly moving the goal posts back to get a bit more correctness in the law.

When the Donks took over congress in the ‘70’s here, they got their ideas from across the pond. We are about 10 years behind Britain in rampant stupidity, only because of luck and some members of SCOTUS. No problem seeing why the left vilifies the conservative side of the bench, is there?

A sampling of cases illustrates the impact of these measures:

In 1973 a young man running on a road at night was stopped by the police and found to be carrying a length of steel, a cycle chain, and a metal clock weight. He explained that a gang of youths had been after him. At his hearing it was found he had been threatened and had previously notified the police. The justices agreed he had a valid reason to carry the weapons. Indeed, 16 days later he was attacked and beaten so badly he was hospitalized. But the prosecutor appealed the ruling, and the appellate judges insisted that carrying a weapon must be related to an imminent and immediate threat. They sent the case back to the lower court with directions to convict.

A proper and PC verdict, would you say?
Now if the jogger said he was carrying the metal to help him lose weight and build up stamina, what could the prosecutor have said?
The lesson to be learned in this PC world is do not tell the truth!

In 1987 two men assaulted Eric Butler, a 56-year-old British Petroleum executive, in a London subway car, trying to strangle him and smashing his head against the door. No one came to his aid. He later testified, “My air supply was being cut off, my eyes became blurred, and I feared for my life.” In desperation he unsheathed an ornamental sword blade in his walking stick and slashed at one of his attackers, stabbing the man in the stomach. The assailants were charged with wounding. Butler was tried and convicted of carrying an offensive weapon.

NYC has a law that allows prosecution for assault if one defends themselves with their cane. A prosecutor can bring the case to the grand jury, which as you know, will indict a ham sandwich for not having mustard. I presume using your crutch would make matters ever worse.

In 1994 an English homeowner, armed with a toy gun, managed to detain two burglars who had broken into his house while he called the police. When the officers arrived, they arrested the homeowner for using an imitation gun to threaten or intimidate. In a similar incident the following year, when an elderly woman fired a toy cap pistol to drive off a group of youths who were threatening her, she was arrested for putting someone in fear. Now the police are pressing Parliament to make imitation guns illegal.

Absolutely right! We cannot have these young malefactors wetting their pants, can we.

In 1999 Tony Martin, a 55-year-old Norfolk farmer living alone in a shabby farmhouse, awakened to the sound of breaking glass as two burglars, both with long criminal records, burst into his home. He had been robbed six times before, and his village, like 70 percent of rural English communities, had no police presence. He sneaked downstairs with a shotgun and shot at the intruders. Martin received life in prison for killing one burglar, 10 years for wounding the second, and a year for having an unregistered shotgun. The wounded burglar, having served 18 months of a three-year sentence, is now free and has been granted $5,000 of legal assistance to sue Martin.

Think 911 will save you

911 motto: When every second count, we’re only minutes away.

Victim Shot While Calling 911″

A California woman was shot to death as she pleaded with emergency dispatchers to come and help her. Her death will not make the network news programs this evening, but this is the latest reminder that we must take responsibility for our own safety and not rely on the police.

Bill Masters, a libertarian and sheriff of a Colorado county tells the residents of his county, “It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your family from criminals. If you rely on the government for protection, you are going to be at least disappointed and at worst injured or killed.”

Gun control puts honest citizens in the position of having to choose between protecting their lives or respecting the law. What kind of government would do such a thing?
More on gun control here and here.

The Second Amendment says the people have the right “to keep and bear arms.” Government officials, however, insist that they can make it a crime to keep and bear arms.
Open the newspaper, turn on the television, or surf the net, and you’ll find people saying the government can solve our problems and make life better.

This is the happy face of government:

gov.jpg

Behind the happy face is an institution that is willing to strip of us of our right to self-defense, and, worse, deprive dying patients of life-saving drugs. Who do these politicians and bureaucrats think they are?

For more on the right to life, go here, here, and here (pdf).

How a Non “gun free zone” works

…and kids, this is the way it works!

80-year-old John Wayne
fan puts attacker in hospital

Investigators say they were definitely going to rob him - possibly even kill him.
But an 80-year-old North Texan wasn’t about to let that happen, so he took action.

One of the suspects is in the hospital and both are facing charges.

Two men obviously thought James Pickett, 80, was an easy target when they showed up at his home on Saturday with a knife. [snip]

In short, even at 80, he is someone you just don’t mess with.

What the men didn’t know is Picket had taken a pistol and put it in his pocket before opening the door. [snip]

The old saw about knives at gun fights holds up.

“I think I’m a ten times better shot than and he is… But they best not come back,” he said.

If he was a good shot, there wouldn’t be a trial.

Another gun free zone shooting

Multiple Victims In N. Illinois Univ. Shooting

DE KALB, Ill (CBS) Several people have been shot on the Northern Illinois University campus. The suspect killed himself and officials say the danger has passed.

Officials confirmed that several people were shot at Cole Hall, a large lecture hall on campus, shortly after 3 p.m. and the campus was immediately placed on lockdown.

Kishwaukee Hospital reported that up to 15 people were being brought to the hospital and that three to four of those victims had suffered head wounds. [snip]

Officials said the immediate danger has passed. [snip]

Yeah, till tomorrow.

The only competent advice one can take from this sort of happening is ‘Stay out of gun free zones.’

Add some more irony, Illinois has the more draconian anti-gun laws on the books, from complete bans on handgun ownership in aeas to no carry permits and stringent long gun possession.

Works doesn’t it! Perhaps they should incorporate the British laws where they arrest and prosecute anyone who applies any self-defense measures of any level. That way they will have someone in court as a example.

Would you please not scream, go into the corner and die quietly.

Gun free zones revisited

Reality will bite you hard.

For those of you who believe the police are there for you, for those of you who know there is never a cop around when you need one, and for those of you who live in fantasyland of gun weapons control, this message is for you. Take it to heart fools!

This is not a slam at the police; it is a slam at you, the criminal enabler, and the charter member of the victimhood club.

This should be on every police vehicle in large type. responsibility.jpg

The police protect and serve the community at large. You protect yourself.

Incidentally, why don’t you put a sign in your front yard reading “GUN FREE ZONE.”

Gun free zones are deadly

Even with the police right there, the shooter invades a gun free zone and shoots.

6 Dead After Gunfire at Mo. Meeting

KIRKWOOD, Mo. (AP) - A gunman with a history of acrimony against civic leaders stormed City Hall during a council meeting Thursday night, killing two police officers and three city officials before law enforcers fatally shot him, authorities said. The mayor was critically injured in the rampage.

The victims at the meeting in suburban St. Louis were killed after the gunman rushed the council chambers and began firing as he yelled “Shoot the mayor!” according to St. Louis County Police spokeswoman Tracy Panus. Two people were wounded before Kirkwood police fatally shot him, she said. [snip]

Shooting on campus. When every second counts, police are only minutes away, in this case 4 minutes.

BATON ROUGE, La. - A young woman killed two female students in a college classroom at a vocational college Friday, then killed herself, police said.

The students apparently were shot in their seats in the second-floor classroom at Louisiana Technical College, Sgt. Don Kelly said.

Officers ran into the building within four minutes of the first 911 call, which came at 8:36 a.m., he said.

“There was mass pandemonium, people running,” Kelly said. “One officer — the first into the classroom — told me he could still smell gunpowder.”

The students’ names and ages were not immediately released, and it was not clear whether the shooter also was a student.

The school offers classes in a dozen subjects including early childhood education, practical nursing, drafting and welding. [snip]
