Obama gets it…uh, together
Delegate’s reversal stuns party
Wisconsin Democrat now publicly supports McCain
As an avid supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries, Debra Bartoshevich is not alone in her frustration over Clinton’s defeat.
She’s not alone in refusing to support Barack Obama.
And she’s not entirely alone in saying she’ll vote this fall for Republican John McCain instead.
But what makes her unusual is that she holds these views as an elected delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver this summer.
“I’m sure people are going to be upset with me,” said Bartoshevich, a 41-year-old emergency room nurse from Waterford in Racine County, and convention delegate pledged to Clinton.
Joe Wineke, chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, reacted with disbelief when first told Friday afternoon that one of his state party delegates is now a McCain supporter.
“Not a delegate? To the national convention?” said Wineke, who was getting ready for the start of the Wisconsin state party convention Friday in Stevens Point.
“We have a Clinton national (convention) delegate who says she’s voting for John McCain?” Wineke repeated, for clarification. “I’ve never heard of such a thing.” [snip]
Well you can say it’s so , Joe!
High-ranking TN Dem: Obama got terrorist connection?
And TN superdelegate holding off on endorsment.
Fred Hobbs, a state Democratic Party Executive Committee member representing part of [U.S. Rep. Lincoln] Davis” district, said he understands why Davis is not endorsing Obama and is “skeptical” of the Illinois senator himself. [snip]
His chief of staff, Beecher Frasier, said he doesn’t know for sure if Obama is “terrorist connected” but he assumes he’s not.
“Maybe [it’s] the same reason I don’t want to - I don’t exactly approve of a lot of the things he stands for and I’m not sure we know enough about him,” [Fred] Hobbs said when asked why he thought Davis wasn’t endorsing Obama. “He’s got some bad connections, and he may be terrorist connected for all I can tell. It sounds kind of like he may be.”
OK Fred Hobbs, I can tell you Obama hasn’t any terrorist links. Get over it!
WHO?
Well, except for Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, he has no terrorist connections.
Those Gaza phone banks working for the Obamadhi don’t count against him. They’re Arabs, not Americans.
So Hobbs, you’re wrong!

The Fix Is In; Obama’s Their Guy
It’s time for a dictionary lesson for our friends on the left:
- Democracy - noun - A political system in which the supreme power lies in a body of citizens who can elect people to represent them.
- Democratic - adjective - Pertaining to or of the nature of democracy or a democracy.
- Democratic rules committee - noun - A body of party officials determined to fix the nomination for Barack Obama.
That’s certainly the proper definition after Saturday’s ruling that awarded delegates to Obama from a Michigan primary he didn’t participate in. And didn’t Democrats argue that all the votes had to be counted during the Florida recount? Would they have accepted counting half the hanging chads as a compromise? Not likely, but that’s what their split the baby decision on giving Florida and Michigan delegates half a vote equates to.
Apparently, Republicans aren’t the only ones rigging elections.

The value of Progressive education
“It’s wonderful to be back in Oregon”. Obama said. Over the last fifteen months we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to, even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it”.
Has this man lost his bearings? Or can we blame it on “Schoolhouse Rock” or that typical white grandmother?
Proposed SAT question: How many states compose the United States if politician (A) has visited 57 states and has one more state to visit which is actually two states? Show your work.
UPDATE: Isn’t capitalism wonderful? These available soon!

Obama Excites Liberals; McCain Depresses Consevatives
The end is near for Mrs. Clinton. Her Indiana win wasn’t the seismic shift needed to convince super delegates that they should abandon Barack Obama. It’s just a matter of time before her campaign succumbs to a lack of time and money.
Liberals must be ecstatic at Obama’s ascendancy. They have the nation’s most liberal senator one step away from the presidency. Conservatives can only shake their heads as the Republican Party nominates a quasi-liberal. Maybe McCain can battle Obama for the independents, but will conservatives support him? I certainly don’t see or feel much conservative energy or enthusiasm for McCain or the Republican Party. There’s not much about either a conservative can get excited about.

Endearing words from Hussein O
Mayhill Fowler has more from Obama’s remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser Sunday, and they include an attempt to explain the resentment in small-town Pennsylvania that won’t be appreciated by some of the people whose votes Obama’s seeking: [snip]
‘And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations’…
This is the BObama that is, not the polished suit on the stump.

Barack Ditches Unification for Old Fashioned Populist Division
Not long ago, Michele Obama was pointing to Barack’s Iowa win as evidence he could unite people. As Michele so quaintly pointed out at the time, there “ain’t no black people in Iowa”.
Now the worm has turned. The “newly minted”, but always present populist message is being delivered by Barack to largely black communities with an “us versus them” class warfare mentality:
“We also know that times haven’t been too tough for everyone in our economy — because the top Wall Street CEOs have been doing just fine,” he continued. He referred to a new study that the top 50 CEOs were making over $15 million each. “Despite the fact that many of their companies were having a bad year. Think about that.”
You know who else is being helped by Wall Street during the downturn? Barack Obama. His campaign is raking in huge contributions from the same Wall Street fat cats he berates for not helping others.
Having fumbled the Jeremiah Wright issue, Barack is returning to old Democratic themes by taking up the phony populist banner of John Edwards.

Clinton and Obama Spar Over National Security
National defense just doesn’t seem like an issue that’ll resonate with moonbat voters, but Hillary Clinton launched a new ad questioning Obama’s experience in the arena:
“It’s 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. But there’s a phone in the White House and it’s ringing. Something’s happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call.”
The Obama camp responds:
“When that call gets answered, shouldn’t the president be the one — the only one — who had judgment and courage to oppose the Iraq war from the start?” the narrator says.
So first of all, Barack responds with the wrong scenario. We’re not talking about a situation like the Iraq War where you have months to study the intelligence. And let’s be honest, if Obama had been in the Senate, yet another reminder that he’s inexperienced, he’d have made the same political calculation every other Democratic presidential contender made and supported the War. You don’t get “courage” points for opposing the Iraq War from the Illinois legislature.
And by the way, name one thing about Obama’s campaign that would make anyone think he can make the tough decisions? Selling “hope”, “change”, and a laundry list of new social programs isn’t particularly courageous. He represents the worst of cowardly politicians telling everyone what they want to hear, not what they need to hear.
But let’s not forget the former co-President of the United States. Her White House did get calls in the middle of the night. They were called on the first bombing attempt of the World Trade Center, the bombing of Khobar Towers, the bombing of the USS Cole, and a number of bombed US embassies. We didn’t get a lot of action from the Clintons as al Qaeda ramped up its attacks during the 90s though. They let the FBI endlessly investigate and engaged in a lot of hand-wringing over what they could “legally” do to Osama Bin Laden.
For all President Bush’s faults, he kept the country safe and attack free after 9/11. I don’t believe you’ll be able to make that statement in an Obama or Clinton presidency.

Hard to believe they’re doing it again
Maybe they should forbid Floridians the vote. I’m surprised Jimmah Carter isn’t somehow involved in this assault on sanity.
Primary day glitches few but frustrating

Buried at the bottom of this story is this tidbit:
In northern Coral Springs, near the Sawgrass Expressway and Coral Ridge Drive, David Nirenberg arrived to vote as an independent. Nevertheless, he said poll workers insisted he choose a party ballot.
“He said to me, ‘Are you Democrat or Republican?’ I said, ‘Neither, I am independent.’ He said, ‘Well, you have to pick one,”’ Nirenberg said.
In Florida, only those who declare a party are allowed to cast a vote in that party’s presidential primary.
Nirenberg said he tried to explain to the poll worker that he should not vote on a party ballot because of his “no party affiliation” status.
Nirenberg said a second poll worker was called over who agreed that independents should not use party ballots, but said they had received instructions to the contrary.
“He said, ‘Ya know, that is kind of funny, but it was what we were told.’ … I was shocked when they told me that.” Nirenberg said he went ahead and voted for John McCain.Area voters in Florida Primary are reporting problems at polls
One voter was told by poll workers there was no Democratic primary today
On Florida Primary day, voters are reporting problems across Central Florida from Daytona Beach to Hunter’s Creek. Among the precincts experiencing glitches was one in Orange County where voters were told by poll workers early on there was no Democratic primary today.
Phil Marjason said poll workers at precinct 145 in Hunter’s Creek would not give him a Democratic ballot.
[snip]But Orange County officials said their records show Marjason was given a Democratic ballot and it was cast. Marjason disagreed.
“You sign a piece of paper then you walk over to the next table and they hand you a ballot,” he said. “It probably shows that I signed for it, but they didn’t give me a Democratic ballot.”Sheneka McDonald spent 10 minutes trying to convince poll workers at the same precinct that she should have a Democratic ballot. She questioned poll workers when she was handed a Republican ballot but was told, “this is the only ballot we have.”
“I said, ‘How can this be the only ballot,’” McDonald recalled. “That’s when the guy chimed in from the back and said the Democratic primary was in March.”The poll captain eventually apologized to McDonald and told her they had forgotten to unpack all the ballots. “It was a little unnerving this morning,” she said. “I don’t see how you forget to unpack ballots. This is what gives Florida its reputation.” [snip]
I had to cut this here, the rest of this story, it just gets worse, and funnier, and dumber, and—Maybe the south had it right with literacy tests to vote. The problem then was the selectivity. Give the test first to the poll workers.

‘Lamestream’ Media Real Loser in Bumper Crop of Legitimate Nominees
Iowa has a population of about 3 million people give or take a few depending on if you believe Michele Obama’s assertion that not a single black person inhabits the state. New Hampshire has a population of about 1.3 million people give or take a few new “Massholes” who probably snuck across the border last night. But to hear the media tell it, the Republican Party is in deep disarray because it didn’t have a clear cut nominee after less than 1.5% of the US population got a chance to vote on it.
But this is exactly what states like California and Florida have been asking for all along—choices. Less than a month ago the states were all scrambling to move their primaries up because they felt left out. Now that Iowa and New Hampshire haven’t anointed a nominee, the NY Times declares that the GOP is “adrift”. Of course, the Democrats haven’t anointed their nominee either, but they’re Democrats, so it’s see, speak, and hear no evil time at the NY Times.
The media’s real issue here is they don’t get to play kingmaker. Every prominent candidate with a legitimate shot at the nomination was written off by the media at one point so far. And they’ve been wrong on all counts. The real losers here aren’t the GOP or the electorate; it’s the ‘lamestream’ media who are crying sour grapes because they don’t have the power to eliminate candidates they don’t like as quickly anymore.
