Want to know why the Army “missed” the warning signs around Major Hassan?  The Army Chief of Staff knows:

“I’ve asked our Army leaders to be on the lookout for that,” General Casey said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union. “It would be a shame — as great a tragedy as this was — it would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty as well.”

Let me get this straight. We have 13 dead soldiers and dozens of wounded, but General Casey is woried that diversity might become a casualty? *Facepalm*

Where to start? Let’s be adult and admit that most generals are PC ass-kissers. I didn’t know many O-6 (AKA Colonel) or higher officers that weren’t. Officers who didn’t play the PC game have their careers stall out somewhere in the Major or Lt. Colonel area. Fact is the military is riddled with PC disease thanks to its civilian leadership.

Let me also say this only strengthens my respect for those who serve.  Not only do they have to battle the known enemies (terrorists, IEDs, etc.), they have to struggle with the internal enemy within their own leadership of which General Casey turning a blind, PC eye to what might be a larger issue is only the latest manifestation.  Our dithering CINC, who’s going to split the baby in Afghanistan by sending under half the troops requested, will be the next example of their leaders failing them.

I salute you military members.  You have a very tough road to hoe, my friends.
