News on par with Obama
She is, she never was anything but boring.
Britney Spears feels old and boring
I wonder if she ever stopped to think of how her father feels, watching her. He has to worry that she has an idiot sister following in her footsteps.
That’s enough to make one take the pipe; better yet, make them take the pipe and do the world a favor. Take Paris with you too Brits.

She does represent the apex of one aspect of pop culture. Unlearned, uneducated, undisciplined, unrestrained and unchurched. Even the Lost Generation had some reason to be lost, and it’s archivists were pretty bright, if almost all socialists. There’s no valid explanation for Spears unless its simple decadence. Her father is also to blame…it’s too late.
Oh hey look, the world’s smallest violin.
Hostpur - you’re right on. I’m a couple of years younger than Britney, but what you’ve said is basically true about my entire generation. And even the “educated” members of my generation are still basically dumb as stumps. The current and future situation in our country rests, in large part, on the shoulders of my parents (not specifically - but their crowd) for managing to raise a self-absorbed, ignorant, materialistic bunch of useful idiots. I was home schooled, so I’d like to say that home schooling helps a bit in staving off the epidemic, but I can’t speak much better of many of my fellow home schooled peers. I still blame the public schools though.
Okay, so maybe I’m only a year younger than her…I thought it was more for some reason.
SF, I do not envy you. I don’t know what kind of world you are going to face. I’ve seen too much to be wearing rose tinted glasses. My guess, watch the “Road Warrior” movies, I think man has screwed the pooch.
SFurbanette, I’m with VW. You tower above this swarm of losers. Your generation is a casualty of the moral chaos turned loose by mine. You will definitely survive, and even more, prevail, because of your values, but it will be a nasty ride.
My strategy is to out breed (and more importantly, out rear) my miserable peers and teach the kids to cling to God and their guns.
But that’s if we survive the next 20 years…and only as long as we’re still allowed to have more than one child. In SF most people seem to think that mandatory sterilization after one child would be a brilliant idea.
Not a bad policy, if you’re talking about the Baldwin brothers, the Culkins, the Afflecks and some others. In fact, preemptive sterilization would have been even better.
Just asking. How did someone like you emerge in SF? I thought it was illegal.
Most of what’s wandering around SF can’t breed. Their sexual predilection or drug use prevents such occurrences.
Hotspur, yes, I am pretty sure that the legally binding definition of intellectual diversity in SF involves two choices: Chris Daly or Gavin Newsom (in other words: uber liberal or closeted uber liberal).
I wasn’t raised in SF (but was local to that general region of the country). I came here with my values firmly attached and thankfully, living here has only served to further galvanize my thoughts about politics, morality and life in general (having kids even more so!). I am married to a guy who’s family has been in the city for at least 5 generations and what many people find is that the old school, native San Franciscans are much more conservative than the hippie transplants who come here specifically because of SF’s “progressive” and morally permissive reputation.
