Europe Wanted Obama; Now Cope
Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Europe couldn’t wait for an Obama presidency, but they might want to reconsider:
The Polish president’s office backtracked Sunday on a previous claim that U.S. president-elect Barack Obama had promised Poland to continue the Bush administration’s multibillion-dollar missile defense program.
Presidential aide Michal Kaminski said Obama “made no declaration on missile defense.” But Kaminski did not explain why Polish President Lech Kaczynski had claimed Saturday that Obama told him “the missile defense project would continue.”
It looks like the Russians have Obama pegged perfectly–get belligerent, and he’ll buckle. If I were a country bordering Russia, I’d be awfully neverous right now.

Sounds to me that Obama’s comment on the missile shield matches just what he said previously, and that it was the Polish president who was trying to strongarm him into altering his stance via public pressure - pressure which Obama rebuffed immediately.
Obama is going to be in a Stryker bed while they attempt to find a spine for him. He better hope it’s fast. Or he’ll learn just like JFK, this is the bigs and they play for keeps. No one is on your side, Kissinger said it, no friends, only interests.
Obama’s quite the immediate rebuffer.
One reason we have this problem with missile defenses in Poland is - in my opinion - that NATO is growing like kudza in areas which probably aren’t “our” responsibility. The missile defense system has nothing to do with Russia, but Russia is spooked by other maneuvers.
Iran can hit Europe with its potential nukes sooner than the US. I consider this a problem for Europe, not America. In fact, before long, Iran won’t even find a strategic advantage to threaten Europe. We can’t transplant cojones to those fools, so no American blood for Europe.
