Economic engineering, social engineering, biological engineering…we shall be made perfect in his image even as we walk the Earth.

Imagine that!

The head of all this engineering is Choo-Choo Charlie!

A bit like Well’s idea of Utopia in his novel “Men Like Gods”. He believed this kind of thing all his life, and was said to have given a long pathetic scream in 1945 and slipped into depression and died in ‘46 when he decided everything he believed in, all his life, was a load of crap.

Well here we are, N’Englandah’s…we’ve arrived at the fork in the road that requires a decision.

In past elections we accepted as common knowledge that there were no differences between Republicans and Democrats and in reality there probably still isn’t in our low but humble lives as we probably agree that we want safety, protected rights and jobs. Today the polisphere begs for our votes and they offer two very different directions this election. Following Obama’s lead down the left road will assure more Big Government and Legislation designed to marginalize traditionalism.

We know what happened in Massachusetts when voters chose Deval Patrick. During the campaign he slithered around all attempts by the citizenry to ask if he planned to raise taxes…no one could get an answer. The local media just didn’t even ask him. Sound familiar? Democrats out of control over-rode the will of the people by refusing to allow a vote on gay marriage despite a successful petition campaign. Patrick spoke of Massachusett’s landscape as “littered” with the corpses of private businesses and we all knew what that meant.

Maine previously took the left road with Baldacci and now we have a health care financial tragedy with his “Dirigo” plan. Even if enough Mainers vote “YES!” on 1 today Dirigo will not be dissolved…but it will face the reality that voters judged the program ineffective by removing it’s next drug of choice fix…that is, taxpayer money. Maine has also discussed the issue of licenses relative to illegal immigration and we know the progressive response to that!

Connecticut’s Dodd, Vermont’s Sanders and Leahy, Maine’s Baldacci and Allen and of course, Massachusetts’ Kennedy/Kerry/Patrick/ Frank/ DiMasi/Neal/ Olver/ McGovern have all had every opportunity to govern. We know where that left fork took us and see it everyday in our empty wallets. We beg for unemployment checks and we worry about our children’s safety. Are we better off socially? Financially? Do you feel opportunity limited?

Change?

Here in New England, change is spelled c-o-n-s-e-r-v-a-t-i-v-e. McCain/Palin are on the fight fork, good-to-go and needing your vote.

As the venerable Yogi Berra said, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it!”

McCain isn’t a Conservative. He’s a RINO and getting Palin on the ticket doesn’t alter that fact. He is for amnesty for the illegals and voted for the bailout.

The Woodchuck votes Libertarian!

Fair enough, VW! I should have said…where available…vote conservative if presented with an either/or choice. Out of curiosity, do all NE states offer Barr and or Nader on the ballot?

Nader isn’t on the ballot in all states. The Libertarian Party is in most states; I’m not sure it’s on in all states, but I think it is.

All those Randians and no place to go.

As for the northeast - taking the long view - maybe enough of the local culture can be inculcated in our replacements, but it doesn’t look promising in the more urbanized states. Any shopping center gathering down here looks like a UN mural.

Things are changing fast, and there’s no going back.
