I’m convinced this a screwloose form of Puritanism…which probably never really existed until Progressivism came along.

Colin will decide who has too much of what, thereby perfecting the human beings within his reach….limiting soul-destroying concupiscence for “things” in both those who have too much and those who have too little.

Then again, he could just be a megalomaniacal jackass.

I think that Colin is the typical megalomanical marxoid, which is to say he’s a jackass. He’ll be a good party man dutifully carrying out the orders of a Green Mountain V.I. Lenin, if VT ever does manage to secede.

This requires a command economy, enjoying all the successes of the past as exhibited in the USSR.

Hotspur:

You are correct. There has ALWAYS been a strong puritannical streak to progs of every stripe. They can’t abide the notion that someone, somewhere is having fun at the expense of one of their pet groups or causes, or is doing something that is condemned by prog predjudices.

Of course, THEIR puritanism is packaged as good “for the chilluns” and thus cannot be questioned.

The first item that separates a Prog (Socialist) from a capitalist is the view of the economy as a zero sum game. Every thing in their universe is based on a shortage, requiring a sustainable lifestyle, conservation, egalitarianism, collective thought, for all except those running the show.

Ralph Nader said that, while growing up in Winsted, when he and his siblings wanted a snack, his mother gave them a handful of chickpeas. Yum. That explains a lot about the humorless nerd who became Ralph Nader the adult.

I wonder what Colin had for a snack.

No wonder he’s angry.
