Master & student but it ain’t Yoda & Luke

The world is getting a taste of war. Not the lawyer kind the US Army is forced to fight, where combatants pretend to be civilians, where churches, mosques and schools are protected armories and our troops have to come under fire before locking and loading.

No, it’s the other kind of war, which our enemies fight. The one where tanks blow holes in homes and kill anything moving in front of them. So what if the tanks grind the bodies to burger as they punch forward for more blood.
This is the kind of war where the bombs are dropped on the towns, then the civilian deaths are blamed on the other side. Why not, the ACLU, Code Pink, the assorted other goofy lefties are not going to speak out on this carnage because the good guys are doing it!
An enormous lack of feck on the part of the anti-war crowd.

What have you heard from the MSM about this civilian slaughter? Yeah, they dropped some bombs. No screaming ledes like Women and children targeted, collateral damage extremely high from Russian attacks. Tanks shell homes as families flee. Where are those grabbers?

Is Obama looking back at a powerful USSR as the time of everything good? When this country was in a struggle with evil? We know the past eight years are not the time, for he has so said. He wasn’t around for the Great Depression so that era is out also.

Obama never has spoken to how well the Iron Curtain worked to keep the western people from rushing in to luxuriate in that splendid socialist state, the USSR. Recreation of those rosy years will contain the wonders like “The Ministry for State security” food shortages, gulags, Trabants, pollution, worthless money, internal passports, and state TV. Many more hearts desires too, I’m sure.

Solzhenitsyn can start spinning in his grave while he’s still fresh.

Bush evaluated Putin the same way Carter evaluated Brezhnev; they both found an imperfect, suffering soul who could be led to good works by love and security. That’s all metaphysical BS. The world is Hobbseian, not Christian, the rule of man versus the rule of God usually has man winning in the short term, and the long term open to argument.

I expect nothing about this from the American left, unless it’s prattle about pushing Russia to the wall and surrounding it with NATO outposts. That’s the Pat Buchanan line already - imperial America surrounding an historically paranoid and revanchist Russia with trip wires. Even if it’s true, so what? Russia is an expansionist thugocracy, with purebred post-Soviet thugs so ferocious even Asian gangs would fear them. You need to cap and seal that can of scorpions and let them kill each other.

This is The Great Game again, with the US poorly equipped in both material, will and intelligence to play the role of Britain. The threat of Russia Creep in its old provinces is, for now, less a problem for us than the prissy, feminized Euros, who will play brute to Russia’s lash as long as the lattes and perfumes keep coming. Good. They get what they deserve, and the sooner the better. Russia will die of indigestion gorging on a meal of Western Europeans.

This Russian train is on the move.

This link is a good summary of what’s going on. Why we’re screwing around in the Caucasus is an open question, and the Iraq war brought Georgia to our attention in the first place. We have SF guys there, and one of them, an African American, might already be in Russian custody.

Stalin’s mug isn’t in the art work for the hell of it.
If NATO lets the Russians up, the world is going to be paying for that folly for a long time.
Many bozos in western Europe may consider themselves to be in a post-heroic zeitgeist; that never survives advancing steel.

If one of the SF guys got caught, he’s dead and no body. There will be no playing around on the ground, too much is at stake to have that pop up at an odd time.

NATO couldn’t peace-keep a Punch and Judy Show.

The only bright spot is that Russia isn’t Stalin’s Russia, even though that little butt nugget at the top thinks it is.

It isn’t Stalin’s army, the population is sick and declining, there isn’t a threat as ominous as the Wermacht, and even with energy resources, Russia hasn’t the economic strength to compete with The West.

Putin took a chance and he won, but the calculations weren’t that dangerous, either.

Maybe, but nothing succeeds like success, just ask any petty tyrant. The show stays open until the local reviews pan it.

By shutting off the oil pipeline to Turkey, Putin starts to gain more economic clout, might jack up oil prices again and re-feather the catbird’s ass.

Who knows, he might even be doing it to boost Obama’s stature with the Soro’s lefties in November.

Putin took Bush’s measure and found a softie. The Admin on this issue is as weak as Obama, with no excuses to offer.
Iraq seems now to be a shot bolt, and our credibility everywhere is crap. The world has now become infinitely more unstable.
