It’s Energy Independence Day
The bestower of all things worthy, her Grand Benevolence, The Poobah of Propane, The Imparter of Gas, Madame Pelosi declared, that on July 4, 2007, this country would be free of Middle East oil shackles.
War has been waged; congressional and journalist jihadists attacked Big Oil, successfully opposing new domestic exploration and extraction, unleashing the feared WMD ethanol. It worked out well didn’t it.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) announced she would create a panel on energy independence, “accelerate the implementation of existing clean, energy-efficient technologies,” invest in domestic alternatives and “send our energy dollars to the Midwest not the Middle East.”
The broadcast networks – ABC, CBS and NBC – have mentioned “energy independence” more than 60 times since Pelosi first made her “Energy Independence Day” pledge in January 2007.
They haven’t declared success yet, why I don’t know. After all this is an election year.
Truthfully, I haven’t seen success on a scale like this since Khrushchev’s Five Year Plans.
I don’t think we can survive more Pelosi success ideas.

Consider the alternative to inaction, VW!
AUGUSTA, Maine - Gov. John Baldacci and legislative leaders say support is building for an energy special session this summer to address what the state can do to help Mainers weather the energy crisis next winter….
….A special session is estimated to cost the state $40,000 a day.

Maybe they gave that one-woman brain trust, Maxine Waters, the responsibility of getting it done.
The democrat promised in 2006 that if the voters would put them in charge of congress in Jan 2007 they would ‘change’ the direction of the country. I guess going from a climb into a freefall in change.
Helen:
I can see the results of Baldenscrachi’s “Special Session” - a ban on outdoor wood-fired boilers, a $100 per cord “wood use tax”, a $500 annual permit required for each fireplace and woodstove in your house and 5,000 new bureaucraps to enforce all this.
Lets put a bounty on all politicians and “bureaucraps” till they quit or are eliminated.
Even if only a couple bounties are collected, the worthless idiots will hunker down and be unable to see if anyone is paying attention to them. Nobody will venture out to collect taxes either.
Hey Bryan,
Just believe it! It’ll all be true because hope’s alive!
Someone could make a whole lotta bucks if they came up with a Liberal Brain Defragmenter as an assist to holistic logic. For the life of me I can’t understand how anyone could go through life constantly brain surfing to open some scattered file.
I guess we should take it easy on them…After all, a “What if?” is scarier than trying to define ‘is”. Can you imagine the terror of
“What if the taxpayers get mad if we raise taxes again?”
Ed, thank you for commenting… Welcome aboard!
