Ideological fumes

The Democrat Party, that is. But first, conservatives are deluded if they believe, as Sean Hannity claims, that domestic drilling and “energy independence” are the path to less expensive gasoline. Crude oil is a commodity, subject to commodities speculation. Engine fuel prices that are lower than world market prices result from government controls, such as in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, where you fill your tanks with a wink and smile.

Government control is the only conclusion one can draw from Hannity’s leap from domestic exploration to lower prices at the pump. Increased supply wouldn’t account for a large reduction in price with consumption growing in India, China and other developing countries. Government control is not a conservative viewpoint (If there’s something I’ve missed, I’d welcome a comment) There are other reasons to develop domestic energy sources.

It’s a complicated issue, nevertheless. THIS from Powerline illustrates the party divide on domestic energy development, but how much of the price increase is due to restrictions? I don’t know. Does anyone?

It’s the “Democratic” Party. That’s its name. There are no plans to change it, so get it right.

I can hear the night riders already, Raul, and I can smell your jackboot polish. I’ll behave.

It’s just too easy. Drop a little bauble into their cages, and they stay busy for hours trying to figure it out.

Raul, There is the Republican Party containing Republicans. The Democrat Party contains Democrats. There is nothing democratic about that bunch.
The Fascist Axis powers of Pelosi/Reid did promise to lower gas costs when they took office in ‘06. Nice work by those two, everyone is enjoying the fruits of that labor.
What else? Oh yeah, they were going to clean up the earmarks and get rid of corruption. Immense progress on that front too. Don’t tell me the GOP blocked them; they don’t have the votes. Pelosi did nothing for the past two years.
Iraq! We’re winning, no thanks to that cow. Louise Slaughter and Lantos tries to get the Turks to invade Iraq or at least block aid from coming across the northern border. Those two bozos couldn’t even do that right.
Now you have that schwartzkopf as candidate. Every time he’s squeezed more dirt pops out. What a lightweight; as an empty suit, the suit is wrinkled.

Word salad and raving is not comment, Raul.

What did you miss, genius? A course in reading comprehension? Your almost incomprhensible first sentence is exactly the point. The Saudis can do it, Chavez can do, some of the Emirates can do it, but Hannity is wrong. We won’t, and can’t do it, so crude will be a target of speculation and supply/demand no matter where is originates. Damn, you’re thick.

Iraq is much too complicated for a bugwit like you. Think whatever you wish. Whatever you’re getting at with the Donk majority thing is unclear. Make your point. Strain a little.

Jesus Freaks and War Profiteers? Was that your placard at the last torchlight parade? Are you absolutely insane?

Oh, Raul. What’s your opinion of the troops fighting these wars?

Just asking.

Raul, you stepped into it this time.

Perhaps the energy problems in this country could be solved by chaining comrades such as Raul to treadmills to generate electric power.

I’ll try to get this back on topic…

I don’t think that Hannity is only arguing for increasing drilling for oil and gas, but also for construction of new refineries, building nuclear and hydro plants, as well as coal liquefaction, solar and other technologies.

All this is great, assuming that troublemakers like Raul don’t legislate or litigate these technologies away in the name of “environmentalism” “justice” or “fairness.”

I agree that one solution or technology won’t solve the problems we face.

Yes, Raul. I was in the service. The question was valid because the war was one of the topics, and Raul had an opinion….apparently.

Though it really doesn’t matter now, Raul, the post was about conservative claims that fuel prices would be lower if we exploited more sources here in the US. Among the reasons for high gasoline prices is a devalued dollar and more demand in the developing world.

Democrats are generally opposed to more domestic energy production, and Republicans aren’t.

“Energy independence” is both unnecessary and impractical, but Bryan is right that we should do more exploration, extraction and refinement.

You need to comment on this Raul. So far, you haven’t, but lapsed into another ideological seizure. It would be worth your time time to read the posts. You migh
