Globe Endorses John McCain

The Boston Globe endorsement of John McCain should scare most conservative voters off his candidacy. But even if you didn’t have the damning evidence in the form of this endorsement, McCain is on the wrong side of too many big issues. He’s an enemy of free speech with his unwavering support of campaign finance reform laws. He’s pro-amnesty and will revive those disastrous proposals the second he’s elected. And he wouldn’t harm a hair on bin Laden’s to get valuable intelligence information out of him.

You can make electability arguments for McCain all you like, but like the 2 Bush’s before him, he’ll harm the conservative agenda far more than he’ll advance it.

McCain belongs to the Pragmatic Party. He’ll never let beliefs or facts stand in the way of getting reelected.

Then again, that is a disease of a professional politician, a virulent condition attacking most who assume office.

I give McCain points for stubborness with courage, but not much else. I don’t think he’s honest, just clever. He knew that the so-called dirty-tricks played upon him in South Carolina were not done by the Bush campaign (reported once by NPR, and it took off from there), but exploited it anyway. This isn’t a defense of Bush, by the way, but rather a question about McCain.

McCain was apparently known at The Punk at the The Naval Academy, too, which squares with his miserable McCain-Feingold effort. If he were on the ticket, I wouldn’t vote at all.

The Globe is endorsing him in the NH Republican primary. The Globe is not endorsing him for President and never will.

The Globe is only endorsing McCain in hopes that he’ll win the nomination and then they can destroy him. All of the liberal media will portray him, subtly, as not quite right in the head. In the general election, he’ll be the easiest Republican to smear. Even more than Romney.
