Boston City Council considers spanking ban

The spanking ban seems to be making the rounds in more liberal areas of the country.  Now it’s Boston’s turn:

Instead, councilors were discussing a resolution filed by City Councilor Felix Arroyo that would ban corporal punishment in the city of Boston - essentially making it illegal for parents to spank naughty children.

During the May 9th hearing of the City Council, Arroyo filed the resolution as part of a way to “reduce violence by refraining from corporal punishment for children.”

There’s a huge difference between spanking and beating your child.  Spanking is an important disciplinary tool.  The Boston youths involved in gang violence probably needed more spankings as children and not less.

My mom used a wooden spoon on me.  She wasn’t a big fan of waiting till dad got home.  Looking back on my spankings, I must say that I deserved every one of them.  It wasn’t a lot of fun getting spanked, but our little girl will get a few swats as she grows too.  What my mom and I both know is that we’re parents first, which means having a disciplined and respectful child is your number one priority.  There’s nothing wrong with giving a kid a few good whacks when they’ve earned them.

I’d wager that adult spanking in Boston leads child spanking by ten-to-one.

There must be some suitably non-Western culture and religion that enshrines child spanking. Perhaps if a group of the suitably aggrieved would protest at City Hall, the tools on the Council will back off, for fear of being pegged as RBSH (racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic).

The closest thing, Bryan, is Salafism and its variations. Child sacrifice is approved, sometimes with little suicide vests so the kids can take some Jews with them on the path to the 72 Teddy Bears.

Well, in that case, I’m sure the solons in the BCC will make a religious exemption for the ROP and all its noxious aromas.

What about NAMBLA, they might be into spanking too. Is there an exception for them also?

RBSH, BCC, ROP, NAMBLA, WTF?

Sorry, NER.

RBSH = Racist, bigoted, sexist, homophobic - catchall term of opprobrium used by the Left describing things they don’t like.

ROP = The Religion of Peace, or Pieces, as in cut off body parts such as hands or heads, also known as Islam.

BCC = Boston City Council

NAMBLA = An organization of male homosexuals dedicated to getting approval and support for molesting male children. An organization that some current and former members of the BCC as well as the MA Legislature could be found as members/supporters.

Thanks, Bry. Just making another joke. The BCC eluded me, but I knew the others.
