House silent on British/Iranian crisis

Some House members are disappointed by Speaker Pelosi’s decision to ignore the British/Iranian crisis:

“I believe it’s important for us as Americans to show our solidarity with the Britons,” he added in a phone interview Friday. “The British are our closest allies, and I think we have to stand next to them in a moment like this.”

Sadly, Nancy did show solidarity with the British by rolling over since that’s what they are in the process of doing. And don’t forget that she’s visiting Syria this week. She’ll be far too busy bowing and scraping to show a spine.

[…] New England Republican and SocalPundit have the irony of Pelosi visiting Syria while remaining silent on the abduction of British sailors by Iran. So does Joust the Facts. […]

The IQ and backbone deficit in at least two branches of government seems beside the point. It can only be turned around by the necessities and panic of a real war, not the police action in Iraq. So it will be.

I’d expect State and Defense someday to realize that the humiliation of the weak and defenseless is a keystone of Arab and Persian foreign/defense policy…a cultural artifact that doomed them to their relative inferiority in the world today, and will end in their destruction sometime within a decade.

All their small and big tyrannies, and their religious totalitarianism is the consequence of this shame/pride wickedness and the demonstration of power by flaying the bound and weak, hanging the handicapped and mutilating the hostage.

Feed that compulsion by timidity and silence, and it spreads and tempts them to further provocations amd miscalculations. It’s a happy coincidence that the Islamist punks are at the window while The West is dozing to the lullabies of international liberalism. Jimmy Carterism seems to have started it, but it’s a permanent disorder in Western politics; the fantasy that peace is a natural state.

This wouldn’t have happened to American sailors because the Iranians knew that any attempt on our swabs would have ended in Iranian chum floating in an oil slick.

I’d like to think so Rhod, but the ROE require the agreement of two lawyers in Washington before putting any weapon into battery.

I could be wrong, VW. Have you noticed the fanatics/numbskulls/rent-a-mob/sexual-repressives screaming and frothing outside the Brit Embassy in Teheran. Sympatico with Code Pink and ANSWER, no doubt.

Every Sandland Embassy should be required to keep a large herd of wild boar that can be driven through the front gates at opportune times.
