Patrick administration knew about New Bedford immigration raid months ahead of time
Federal immigration agents first briefed senior members of the incoming Patrick administration about plans to raid a Massachusetts sweatshop that employed undocumented workers last December, days before Governor Deval Patrick even took office.
In the following two months, there were face-to-face meetings and conference calls between state officials and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency to discuss the potential human as well as legal consequences of the planned roundup of laborers working illegally at the Michael Bianco Inc. leather factory in New Bedford.
It certainly looks like he played a role in this “humanitarian crisis”. You know it’s going to be a long 4 years when even the moonbats at the Globe turn on the governor. It just doesn’t look like he’s capable of doing anything right.

What would be protocol? Would ICE have pre-advised the Governor exclusively and then expected he would inform appopriate substrata, or would they have simultaneously informed the Governor and others, perhaps including Massachusetts senators?
Helen: I can’t believe it wasn’t leaked.
I’m sure that the Deval’s supporters will give him the benefit of the doubt by beliveing that evil dark forces constrained Deval from doing the “right” thing by interfering with the raids or tipping off the wetbacks and their comrades.
My suspicion is that ICE told him as the raids were about to go down and that Deval is saying he “knew” back in February so as to not appear weak and not in control of what’s going on in the State.
I believe Patrick was presented with Hitler’s favorite diplomatic method: the fait accompli.
