Calls For Apology Increase
Senator Kerry refuses to apologize for his slander against American troops even as Democratic candidates try and distance themselves from him.
If he had just apologized yesterday, this story would be old news already. Instead he foolishly released a statement that looked like it was written by the moonbats at Daily Kos.
Meanwhile, the number of people demanding an apology from Kerry continues to grow. Here is President Bush on the campaign trail yesterday:
In the mist of a heated campaign season, there are somethings we should all be able to agree on, and one of the most important is that every one of our troops deserves our respect and our gratitude.
Yesterday, my opponent in 2004 presidential race, Senator Kerry, was speaking to a group of young people in California. I want you to listen to what he said. He said, “You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.”
The senator’s suggestion that the men and women of our military are somehow uneducated is insulting and it is shameful. The members of the United States military are plenty smart and they are plenty brave and the senator from Massachusetts owes them an apology.
More statements from Governor Romney, Senator Frist, and the head of the American Legion can be found in the extended section.
“Senator Kerry owes an apology to the thousands of men and women serving in Iraq, particularly the many patriotic soldiers from Massachusetts who come from all backgrounds to defend our freedoms. As Governor, I represent thousands of Massachusetts National Guardsmen. They are more diverse, educated and prepared to do their job than at anytime in our country’s history. No matter where you went to school, or how many degrees you have, most people understand the strength of our nation comes from every corner of America.”
“Senator Kerry clearly owes an apology to our soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines serving in Iraq. But Mr. Kerry has refused to do so. Instead, he’s claiming that Republicans are “desperately distorting” his comments. Watch the video yourself … it is perfectly clear what Mr. Kerry said … what’s unclear is whether Mr. Kerry ever means what he says. Perhaps he was against his comments before he actually made them.
And Senator Kerry is falsely claiming that Republicans “love to attack those who did [serve in war].” The truth is that Senator Kerry served honorably in Vietnam over 35 years ago, but he’s not immune from criticism today. Republicans aren’t “questioning his patriotism,” but we are calling him on his slur of our troops in the field.
Having just returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, I can tell you that the American troops I met were hard-working, intelligent, and dedicated to victory. Maybe the reason that John Kerry is so eager to accept defeat in the War on Terror is that he doesn’t share my opinion of our fighting men and women.”
National Commander of The American Legion:

As leader of The American Legion, I am outraged,” said National Commander Paul A. Morin. “A generation ago, Sen. Kerry slandered his comrades in Vietnam by saying that they were rapists and murderers. It wasn’t true then and his warped view of today’s heroes isn’t true now.”

“While The American Legion shares the senator’s appreciation for education, the troops in Iraq represent the most sophisticated, technologically superior military that the world has ever seen,” Morin said. “I think there is a thing or two that they could teach most college professors and campus elitists about the way the world works.
“And while we are on the topic of education, why doesn’t the senator and his comrades in Congress improve the GI Bill so all of today’s military members – reserves and guard included – can achieve the educational aspirations that the senator so highly values?” Morin said. “The senator’s false and outrageous attack was over-the-top and he should apologize now.”

I would say it is the job of the people of Massachusetts to rid us of this ignorant cretin! He makes The Swimmer look like a statesman, for heaven’s sakes!
Gayle has the right idea, she just doesn’t go far enough. kerry needs to be put away from all future public appearances for ever and then some. This guy is simply put, a moron. He does not even has the capability to understand people, has no feelings running through those blue veins of his, and wouldn’t know an insult even with pictures. I think thae only supporter he has is his ketchup-head wife, who really understand anything but elitism and the “we deserve everything because we are rich” philosophy. The both need to be taken the vet for one last trip.
It’s as though Frank Burns stepped out of the TV and onto the national stage.
It’s ironic because of Bush and Kerry, Kerry was the one who ended up in Vietnam. It looks like Kerry was generalizing from his own experience.
