“Free ‘em all” Deval sort of apologizes for his Benjamin LaGuer missteps

For background on the Deval Patrick/Benjamin LaGuer case please see NE Republican’s post here.

Deval Patrick offered a very interesting apology yesterday. He’s not sorry because his efforts to release a dangerous rapist back into society were misguided and inappropriate. No, he’s sorry that he didn’t get his facts straight before answering questions about his involvement in the case. Now, assuming you actually believe that he forgot about his 2 letters to the parole board, personal notes, and $5,000 donation for a DNA test, Patrick claims he didn’t know the DNA test results positively linked LaGuer to the crime until the Globe questioned him about his involvement in the case 4 years after the testing was conducted. Does anybody buy this?

And there’s more. When asked if he’d parole LaGuer, Patrick offers this response:

“No is the answer because I’m running for governor, and now everything is overly scrutinized.”

I’m speechless. Even after LaGuer is positively linked to the horrific rape of an elderly woman, Patrick would still consider paroling him if he wasn’t being watched so closely because of the gubernatorial race.

Consider yourselves fairly warned, Massachusetts. Dukakis’s involvement in the Patrick campaign is no mistake. Patrick is going to open the penitentiary doors for many hardened criminals.

Deval Patrick is a disgrace and should step out of the race for governor. What we don’t need is another Liberal, weak on crime Democrat. He sounds a lot like Dukakis.
