Republican struggles continue
More signs of a Republican Party that seems increasingly out of touch with its voters at all levels:
Robert Smith, the chairman of the Onondaga Republican Party, complained that the state party chairman, Stephen J. Minarik III, had tried to foist the Weld candidacy on the rank and file. “I feel abandoned by the hierarchy of our party,” said Mr. Smith, a Faso supporter. “I think this is a complete testament to the leadership of Mr. Minarik.”
I think a lot of people feel abandoned by Republican leadership at the moment. I wonder how long it will take the party to realize it?

New York State’s rules for getting on the ballot are so machiavellian, they never have a choice. It’s Democratic, GOP, Conservative or Liberal ticket. Period! So having some one bitch about feeling abandoned is akin to a chubbette saying “I never got no buff date.”
You can bet Smith would keep anyone else off the ticket in a “New York Minute.” (couldn’t resist that one)
Gauging The Will Of The People…
When will the Republican leadership start listening to the people that voted them into office?
……
OP
While I agree that the Republican Party has seen better days, I think if you surveyed the local political scene you’d find enough such stories about both parties. As someone whose name I don’t remember once said, local politics is so vicious precisely because the stakes are so small.
