I don’t want any special treatment, just treat me like a Kennedy!

Apparently the Kennedy clan never learns from their past mistakes:

Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy crashed his car into a security barrier near the Capitol early yesterday, and officers suspected that he was intoxicated, a police union official said.

There is something about being a Kennedy, alcohol, and cars that just doesn’t seem to mix well.

When police approached, the sources said, Kennedy got out of his car and said he was late for a vote. The House was not in session.

Who says our politicians are not working their fingers to the bone? Rep. Kennedy was speeding to the Capitol for a vote at 2:50 am in the morning.

“It’s always a tough situation when an officer has to take law enforcement action with members of Congress,” Gainer said. “But the rules are very clear. If there’s a violation of the law, you treat everybody equally.”

The law is applied equally to everyone except a Kennedy. You and I would be in jail right now, but a Kennedy gets door-to-door service so he can sober up before the real investigation can get under way.

Update: Rep. Kennedy is claiming drug interactions disoriented him:

In his statement, Kennedy said he was apparently disoriented from the drugs when he got up a little before 3 a.m. Thursday and drove to the Capitol thinking he needed to be present for a vote.

“At no time before the incident did I consume any alcohol,” he said.

Even if true, it still does not explain the preferential treamtment he recieved.
